Last year I had the privilege of hosting Diga Brazil’s trip to Salvador, Brazil for their summer music fest and I got to see Rich Medina spin in Brazil! Sooo awesome! This year they’re doing it again, and this time Julie Dexter, Janeiro Jarel, Mausiki Scales, Sol Messiah & Salah Sananse are joining the line-up. These trips have a tour group feel with a group of cool peeps from Philly and you stay in your own huge condos instead of hotels. UPDATE: The film has SOLD OUT but now there’s an after party at Tattoo Mom’s sponsored by Sailor Jerry for those who go to the concert but can’t get into the movie.
Sailor Jerry, a store known for its parties as much as its clothing line, is shutting down 13th Street for Philly punk band Paint It Black to perform outside the store! ALL AGES can rock out before heading to the Prince Music Theater for the screening of Hori Smoku, a Sailor Jerry documentary in the Philadelphia Film Festival. There will be a party with complimentary Sailor Jerry Rum in the store during the concert for those 21+. (party is free, film screening is $10)

As I’m sure you know, I have a minor {major} obsession with vintage dresses. Vintage Connection is one of my new favorite spots - on the corner of 9th & Bainbridge. Okay, I’m going to let you in on a little secret: I LOVE Bluegrass. Like, in my car I just leave the bluegrass station on at all times on my Sirius Radio. I definitely have a little red-neck in me, but I also love to be a lady. So this weekend I’m going to combine the two in Newtown.

Newtown has a lovely little small-town Main Street call State Street with adorable shops & restaurants. This Sunday there’s a Bluegrass Concert at the old Newtown Theater, so I’m going to make a whole day of it.

First I’ll start with a facial at Blossom, then I’ll shop at Love Illuminati, then the Bluegrass Concert, dinner at the Brick Hotel and cocktails at The Grotto. (more…)
